International Holocaust Film Series

I visited the Boston Holocaust Memorial for inspiration and memorial when tasked with creating a system of posters, stamps, t-shirts, and logo marks for the International Holocaust Film Series.

Prior to visiting this memorial, I have spent years learning about the holocaust from many perspectives. Growing up I lived next door to a woman who as a child was on the Kindertransport. Children, like her, were sent by train alone to the UK from Nazi Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, and Poland from 1938-40 to avoid the terror which was to come in World War II. I spoke to her about her experience and how important it was in her life. In 2019, I also spent a semester in Berlin learning about the history of the holocaust and the importance of remembrance.

My use of images from the exhibition is an attempt to innocuously draw the viewer into this film series documenting a horrific period in history. I hoped to subconsciously evoke the memory of millions of lives lost by using walls inscribed with numbers to subtly embody the toll of human suffering.
